Last Wednesday it was the TLC Promise Me Celebration Party to conclude the few months campaign of fulfilling the wishes of the less fortunate within a short period of time.

Throughout the whole TLC Promise Me Campaign, I have learned a lot and realize a lot. Thank you TLC fir giving me this opportunity to participate in this meaningful campaign that I get to reward back to the society.

I have got my cert!

My pledge was to get an ankle foot orthosis (AFO) for Mr Kau at NASAM Ampang. He’s in 60+ years of age and wheelchair bound and really need this to support him. I came out with a Charity CAR Wash Idea and yes I made it and even I can get Mr Kau a customized AFO that suits him.

Thanks to everyone who support me in this Charity CAR Wash campaign, especially members from MyForteClub and thanks to Mr Raymond from Shine N Shield who sponsor the venue for me to run the charity campaign to raise fund for Mr Kau.

Mr Kau related his experience as a stroke survivor and must be thankful that he could still walk around with assistant right now. I’m proud of myself too as I did try my best to help someone who’s really in need and reward back to the society.

We can’t just work, eat and sleep doing the same routine tasks but without doing something that’s meaningful in our live. It is about channeling the collective energy of the community in helping the less fortunate, disabled and underprivileged in our society.

Always remember this phrase : “Celebrate the past, enjoy the present, create our future.” Thanks for those who supported me in the Car Wash Campaign and to those who donated too.

After so much of hardwork in the Charity Car Wash and fund raising campaign, I got Mr Kau a brand new Ankle-foot orthoses (AFO)! He’s so happy when I met him. I’m glad that I’m able to help someone too! Thanks to those who support in this fund raising campaign too.

But it’s not good enough and with the additional money that I have raised for Mr Kau thru Charity Car Wash campaign, we can get Mr Kau a customized AFO! He’s able to walk better and cheerful with the customized AFO.

See, the AFO is now custom made!

Always remember, you may need help someday. So do whatever you can to help someone in need without asking for anything and with your true heart.

Finally after so much of hardwork in the Charity Car Wash and fund raising campaign, I got Mr Kau a brand new Ankle-foot orthoses (AFO)! He’s so happy when I met him last Saturday. I’m glad that I’m able to help someone too! Thanks to those who support in this fund raising campaign too.

This is the AFO that I get for Mr Kau at HUKM, it’s RM325. The total fund that I raised was RM788 and the remaining money will handover to Mr Kau’s family so that they can make use the money to get other necessity that Mr Kau needs.

Check out how Mr Kau learned to use AFO to support him to move around. It’s used to provide support to weak or wasted limbs or to position a limb with tight, contracted muscles into a more normal position.

I feel good when I able to raise fund to fulfill Mr Kau wish in TLC Promise Me Campaign. To date, I have raised RM788 in total for Mr Kau. You could check out more about the Promise Me Campaign that I posted earlier and how I manage to raise the fund and I must say that it was a challenging task!

Last Saturday, early in the morning I went to meet Mr Kau and interview with Bernama TV of this TLC Promise Me Campaign in Mr Kau’s house. He’s waiting for my arrival eagerly and I can tell from his face, he’s very happy to see me and chat with me although this is the second time meeting him. =)

Bernama crew and reporter were there to interview Mr Kau & Me on this TLC Promise Me campaign. Mr Kau speak very slow and in cantonese so his daughter be the translator and yes he’s very happy that someone actually help to fulfill his wish of getting Ankle-foot orthoses (AFO) for him.

As I have posted earlier, I took up a pledge to fulfill Mr Kau wish of getting an “Ankle Foot Orthotic” (or AFO), it’s a special brace that is designed to help control the motion of the ankle joint and also offer support to the foot. In order to fulfill Mr Kau wish, I have came up with Charity Car Wash idea.

Then I proposed to a car detailing shop (Shine N Shield) owner and he agreed to help up on this charity campaign and I really appreciate him for his support! I have also come up with a promotional video clips so that more people aware of this car wash campaign.

Last Sunday, was one of my most meaningful day as I raised fund to fulfill Mr Kau wish by having a car wash campaign. I must thank Raymond, the owner of the car detailing shop Shine N Shield @ Sunway for supporting me in this car wash campaign by giving me a place to host this charity car wash campaign.

He was kind enough to provide 2 workers to help up too, initially I was just asking him whether want to take part in this charity car was campaign and I will wash the cars myself no need to involve the workers. But seriously, without the help of the 2 works and friends, I really cannot finish washing so many cars in 4 hours!

On top of that, he provided refreshment and drinks for those who participated in this raising fund campaign too, it’s so kind of him. If you wish to do car detailing Polarized Protection System, do check out my previous experience here.

Throughout this 4 hours Charity Car Wash campaign, even I’m very exhausted, but I managed to wash 15 cars and raised RM480! Although I was expecting more cars but the target was achieved, really appreciate those who came and support!

On top of that, I managed to raise another RM278 by donation, so in total I have raised RM758! I really appreciate all the kind support from my friends and readers. Thanks!

Will be getting the AFO and will be giving it to Mr Kau very soon! Stay tuned for more updates on my Promise Me pledge.

On the other hand, NASAM is organising their annual food and fun fair with this year’s theme of Fun on the Roof. It will be held on 18 July 2010 (Sunday) on the 4th level of the Jaya 33 carpark in Petaling Jaya. Their target is to raise RM200,000 from this event to meet the operating expenses of their two centres in Petaling Jaya and Ampang.

You may purchase the food and fun fair coupons at RM10 per booklet or make a cash donation to help them defray the cost of organising the event.

TLC Promise Me Campaign was launched and officiated by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil on June 5 at the Bangsar Shopping Centre.

Under the campaign, participants will find out and strive to fulfill the wishes of 70 selected individuals from Rumah Aman, Hospis Malaysia, the National Stroke Association of Malaysia and the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children Association of Johor Baru.

As a participant of this Promise Me Campaign together with 4 other bloggers, I was there to witness the launch too. I feel really proud as I could do something and reward back to the society by not just go to work daily, eat and sleep, but do something meaningful in our life and also help those in need.

We have vowed that we will fulfill the wish of those in need thru this campaign wholeheartedly and we will try our very best effort.

I took up a pledge to fulfill Mr Kau wish of getting an “Ankle Foot Orthotic” (or AFO), it’s a special brace that is designed to help control the motion of the ankle joint and also offer support to the foot.

I have visited Mr Kau in Nasam Ampang. Nasam is really a place where it helps the stroke survivors as their objective is “There is Life After Stroke through proper rehabilitation.” We should have more places like this and more volunteer for charity so that those less fortunate or underprivileged people will not be ignored.

Mr Kau is a very optimistic and very cheerful man. But I sense that he really needs a lot of care and people to talk to him. I was there and chat with him about an hour and really impress with him.

He needs “Ankle Foot Orthotic” (or AFO) to support him so that he could move around easier.

In order for me to fulfill his wish, I need to raise fund and I come out with an idea of Charity Car Wash. As I know, nowadays most people do have own a car and some even lazy to wash it themselves, so why not I’m doing the Car Wash and at the same time help to raise fund?

I would be glad if you could come and support this fund raising campaign this Sunday (11 July 2pm-6pm) @ Shine N Shield Sunway. The owner of the detailing shop actually agrees to let me to use his place to run this Car Wash campaign and I really appreciate his kind support.

TLC’s Promise Me Campaign is to engage more youths in addressing social causes and focus in creating meaningful benefits for those who are less fortunate, underprivileged or disabled in our society. Promise Me represents how we all can give back to society in our own little ways. We can make a different if we take the 1st step.

It gives everyone an opportunity to fulfill the wishes of the less fortunate within a short period of time. Throughout this campaign, we will have the opportunity to learn and experience what we could not and it will make us stronger and appreciate what we are having now and growth within ourself.

I was inspired by this Promise Me Campaign and do something that I could by give back to the society. My pledge is to get an ankle foot orthosis (AFO) for Mr Kau at NASAM Ampang. He’s in 60+ years of age and wheelchair bound and really need this to support him.

An “Ankle Foot Orthotic” (or AFO) is a special brace that is designed to help control the motion of the ankle joint and also offer support to the foot. AFOs are commonly used in the treatment of disorders that affect muscle function such as stroke, spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, polio, multiple sclerosis and peripheral neuropathy. AFOs can be used to provide support to weak or wasted limbs or to position a limb with tight, contracted muscles into a more normal position. They are also used to immobilize the ankle and lower leg in the presence of arthritis or fracture, and to correct foot drop. An AFO may also be referred to as a foot-drop brace.

So I really really hope I could fuilfil his wish with all my effort and help from you.

I’m gonna do car wash to raise fund so that I could get an AFO for Mr Kau and try to have more time with him and chatting over a cup of coffee. He really needs care and someone to talk to.
